From Manchester airport it’s easy to reach the city centre and beyond by train. Services depart every seven minutes, and the trip to the downtown area only takes about 20 minutes.
 
Manchester is an excellent example of how much a city can transform itself from a drab and dusty industrial town into a vibrant city. It offers a wealth of experiences both in music, culture, sports and especially shopping.
 
Many tourists come to Manchester to experience the wide range of museums, old and new architecture, the buzzing atmosphere at the city's numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants and football matches with its two large rival clubs.

 

A good place to begin your visit is at St. Peter's Square, located near in the heart of the city. Here you will find the UK's largest library, the Central Library, with a distinctive round shape inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. If you are interested in historic buildings Manchester has even more historic library buildings.
 
The Museum of Science & Industry lifts the veil of Manchester's fascinating industrial heritage. Here you’ll see old aircraft that date back to the beginning of air travel, long and elegant steam locomotives, motorcycles, steam turbines and more.

 

The Manchester Art Gallery is located in the centre of the city and, with its. collection of over 2,000 oil paintings, 3,000 watercolour paintings and 250 sculptures, is a fascinating place to spend an afternoon.

Chinatown in Manchester is one of the largest outside of China. A grand entrance gate welcomes you, as well as the delicious smell of Chinese food from the areas numerous eateries.
 
Manchester has produced almost as many great musicians as footballers includingThe Smiths,Morrissey, Joy Division and Oasis to name but a few. Manchester Music Tours offers bus and walking tours around town where you can get closer to the history of music. Find out more.
 
In Manchester's Northern Quarter there are plenty of specialty stores with vinyl records, vintage clothes, art galleries and bars. If a peaceful stroll is more appealing, Manchester's largest green park, Heaton Park, is the place to go.
